Just became a member of MECCA and am getting more than anxious to get my restoration project back on track.
I am a Major in the U.S. Army and have owned a 1971 Road Runner since 1996. I acquired the vehicle for the grand sum of $800 during College, so that was a lot of money then, and started a ground-up restoration of the vehicle with my father.
I built a rotisserie for the car and have done quite a bit of work on the car prior to heading to the middle east for two tours and on long tour overseas (Germany); unfortunately the vehicle has sat for the past 10 years without any further progress, but I remain hopeful that I'll find the time to get it finished so I can drive it for the first time.
I am currently located in the Kansas City area and am looking for a good place to have my 'Runner finished, as I do not have the time to do it myself. Please let me know if you have a good place to recommend.

Hey Shawn - welcome to the 'club'! (: I can only imagine how badly you'd like to be driving that bird! And you well deserve to be doing just that as much as you've done for 'us' by being in the military - thank you. Hate that you're not closer to Tn, I could recommend to you the gentlemen who did my mechanical restore at MidState Motors. One of them is a mecca member also. But - won't do you much good there. I'm sure someone will read your post and get back with you. There's plenty of folks on here who'd be happy to help ya out. Hang in there for a reply - my thought is - I've[you've] waited this long... lol Check out my page sometime and you can read about what we did. I think my most detailed page is on theautolog.com Thanks for posting and i'll catch you later ~laurie PS post some pics! (;
